Inside the AtoD, there is a 1.5Volt Nickel Hydroxide battery (same capacity as a AA battery). You can recharge the AtoD and reuse it.

Samsung announced the new Spinpoint F3 1TB hard drive that utilizes two 500 GB per platter disks. The 3.5-inch Spinpoint F3 hard drive operates at 7200RPM and provides up to a 30 percent higher performance than a three-platter 1 TB drive.

Samsung’s F3 hard drive features the SilentSeek and NoiseGuard low noise operation technologies. It uses 3.0Gbps SATA interface and has either 16MB or 32MB buffer memory. 500GB model is now available and the 1TB model will be shipped in August.

Onkyo launches in the US the V-BD507 Blu-ray player. The player plays Blu-ray video discs with Full HD 1080p resolution and does DVD and CD playback. It offers internal scaling of all video sources to 1080p.

Onkyo DV-BD507 supports Deep Color and x.v. Color specifications of HDMI 1.3a. It can also play AVCHD video files stored on SD/SDHC card or DVD-R/RW dics. The player supports BD-Live Profile 2.0 for online interactive content.

The Onkyo DV-BD507 Blu-ray player is priced at $449. It has an HDMI and an Ethernet ports.

AMD announced the new ATI FirePro V8750 3D workstation graphics accelerator, designed to meet the extreme productivity needs of today’s CAD, Digital Content Creation (DCC) and oil and gas professionals.

The FirePro V8750 offers the highest number of shader engines (800) with the highest memory bandwidth (115.2 GB/s). It has 2GB of GDDR5 frame buffer memory. It offers two DisplayPort outputs and a Dual Link DVI output. The card has native multi-card support. The ATI FirePro V8750 is now available for $1799.

Creative introduces the Zii EGG, the world’s first handheld StemCell Computer. Currently, the Zii EGG is aimed at developers and OEMs. The device runs the Zii Plaszma platfrom that supports both Plaszma OS and Android OS.

The Zii EGG is powered by Creative’s ZMS-05 Media-Rich Applications Processor and has 256MB RAM. It 3D Hardware Graphics Acceleration for OpenGL ES and X-Fi Audio processing. The EGG has a 3.5-inch Capacitive 10-Point Multi-Gesture Touchscreen LCD Display, dual camera, Bluetooth 2.1, integrated GPS receiver, WiFi 802.11b/g and a 3-axis accelerometer. The handheld computer offers 1080p Full HD output.

In addition to 32GB internal memory, the Zii EGG has a SD card for expansion. Creative is offering the Zero GB version of the device in bulk for US$199 each. The Zii EGG/Zii Plaszma, currently, is still a developer platform, though the Zii EGG is now 100% market ready.
