Last week, as an interim measure to provide companies with the ability to use XBRL data tags referencing the newly published FASB Codification, which became the single source of U.S. GAAP on July 1, XBRL-US issued a patch of sorts (technically, a “taxonomy extension file” or “taxonomy reference linkbase”) to enable referencing to the Codification. This is an interim step pending full incorporation of Codification references in XBRL-US’ U.S. GAAP Taxonomy in 2010, as explained on the XBRL-US website under FASB Codification and U.S. GAAP Taxonomy. In the very near future, IT managers are likely to receive a phone call from their finance department asking about XBRL. New corporate filing requirements may lead to finance systems and processes having to be re-engineered – so are you ready for XBRL?
From April 2011, her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) is making it compulsory for all businesses to file both company accounts and tax returns in an electronic format called iXBRL – inline eXtensible Business Reporting Language.
Most businesses are unaware of the new rules, which apply for accounting periods ending after 31 March 2010. But this requirement will apply to all firms which currently submit a corporate tax return, regardless of size, meaning every company will need to review their internal systems to ensure they can produce the required iXBRL files.

Samsung launches in Korea the SP-P410M LED pocket projector. The device is able to display 800×600 SVGA images, and features 1000:1 contrast ratio and 170 ANSI Lumens brightness.

The SP-P410M includes also a USB port and media playback function supporting MP3, WMA, PCM, ADPCM, OGG, AAC-LC, AMR-WB, WAV audio, MPG, XviD, DviX, MP4 video and JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, HDP images. Samsung’s P410 can play media files from attached USB storage devices.
