Time to tackle the language barrier

Our recent story on the computing language claiming it could cost firms ‘tens of thousands’ has made me wonder why are the regulators forcefully pushing this by making its use mandatory?

The rise of the new reporting language could offer businesses around the world the chance to work on the same footing and simplify how financial information is communicated through computers. Surely a good thing.

ASB warned on timing of rule changes

The UK standard setter may have to delay the introduction of new international reporting rules as fears mount that it could clash with a new tax-reporting regime.

The Accounting Standards Board’s proposal to bring in new international accounting standards for mid-tier companies could clash with HM Revenue & Customs’ attempts to bring in – a computer reporting language.
