With the world heading full steam ahead into the full High Definition frenzy, it goes without saying that camcorders and digital cameras are next on the list most likely to see full HD standards stamp its authority in that department. Toshiba has announced that three of their new camcorders from the Camileo range will feature full HD resolution, where they are known as the Camileo S20, Camileo H30 and Camileo X100 models. Just to whet your appetite on their standout points, the Camileo S20 is tipped to be one of the slimmest HD camcorders in the world, while the Camileo H30 will bring together functionality alongside ease of use. As for the high end X100 model, you will benefit from a powerful 10x optical zoom.
Measuring a mere 17mm thin, the Camileo S20 will come with a 5-megapixel CMOS sensor, enabling it to capture in 1,920 x 1,080 resolution while its 4x digital zoom lets you get closer to the action than normal. Apart from its super slim form factor and stylish design, it will be accompanied by a rotating 3” display that brings High Definition quality video for style conscious consumers without breaking the bank.
As for the Camileo H30, this robust camcorder merges functionality with supreme ease of use, featuring a 10-megapixel CMOS sensor that is able to snap images in full HD resolution, coming with 5x optical and 4x digital zoom alongside an easy peasy menu system that enables seamless navigation between shooting modes and features. The 3″ LCD TFT touchscreen display also makes it a snap to view captured video. To make your movies even more professional looking, the H30 has video stabilization that assures the quality of all clips and images even when you’re zoomed in via its 10x zoom. Direct YouTube upload functionality does away with the need for a PC to process your captured videos before uploading.
The high end Camileo X100 will come in a stylish black or silver design, offering a 10-megapixel CMOS sensor alongside a powerful 10x optical zoom lens, 10x digital zoom and the ability to shoot 1080i footage at 60fps and WQVA footage (424×240) at 240fps. Of course, it will retain the useful YouTube direct upload function for added convenience. One look at the Toshiba Journe Touch and chances are you would lust after it, even though you know that you don’t really have any use for the Journe Touch in a practical manner any time soon. The Journe Touch is, in essence, a Mobile Internet Device that features a multimedia touchscreen for easy navigation of its software and programs within, and with 7″ of viewing (and touching) real estate, you won’t go blind anytime soon while viewing the icons and text within. Powered by an advanced version of Windows CE 6.0, the Journe touch targets consumers who want to have access to multimedia content and social networking platforms at their fingertips – sounds pretty much like an iPhone to us, but the bright side is, this is much larger than Apple’s smartphone and probably packs more of a punch.
The Journe Touch is able to handle the playback of a wide variety of file formats that rely on the Windows Multimedia Player 9.0 software client. Heck, Toshiba has even thrown in an Internet Explorer that is two generations old – we’re talking about Internet Explorer 6 here for a mobile Internet browsing experience that is somewhat on par with that of a PC. The 7″ TFT touchscreen display comes with LED backlight and a resolution of 800 x 480, boasting 16:9 aspect ratio to make all your movie playback sessions look delicious without those irritating black lines on either side of the display, while carrying a contrast ratio of 300:1 for true to life colors and all-round excellent quality.
It supports a wide range of social networks and community-based websites including YouTube, Acetrax, Picasa, Flickr, MSN Messenger and others. You can also use the Journe Touch to sift through RSS feeds in order to stay on top of things at all times. Other features include Wi-Fi connectivity, an SDHC memory card slot, 1GB of internal flash memory, support for a wide range of audio and video formats, HDMI output and USB connectivity. No idea on pricing details just yet though, but would all the mentioned specifications make you rush out and purchase one for yourself?
