NTT DoCoMo Touch Wood Concept Phones

NTT DoCoMo shows at the CEATEC Japan 2009 the Touch Wood line of concept phones, which are developed by Sharp and Olympus. These two Touch Wood phones are based on Sharp’s mobile phones and get a cypresswood body, which is made using Olympus’ 3D compression molding technique. One of them is based on Sharp’s SH-04 and the other is a bar-type touchscreen phone.

Thanks to Olympus , cypresswood casing is made to “maintain the kind of durability, and resistance to , insects, and mildew that you’d expect from a tree”. The casing of each Touch Wood phones will be unique.

Motion Computing C5 and F5 now with Gorilla Glass

Motion Computing’s C5 and F5 rugged PC is now getting optional Corning’s Gorilla thin-sheet glass that was designed to protect against real-world events that cause display damage.

The C5 and F5 are both IP-54 and MIL-STD-810F rated. These fully-rugged tablet PC are powered by ’s Core 2 Duo U7500 1.06GHz processor, 1GB RAM and 80GB (optional 64GB SSD). The Motion F5 is designed for field workers while the Motion C5 is for use by clinicians across healthcare environments (Mobile Clinical Assistant). They both have a sealed, disinfectable chassis.

The C5 and F5 have an integrated 2 Megapixel , built-in 1D/2D barcode scanner, integrated 13.56MHz RFID reader with ISO 15693 support and integrated 13.56MHz HF passive RFID tag. They have a 10.4-inch touchscreen display with AFFS+ backligth and come with an active digitizer pen. Buyers can also add the optional WWAN mobile broadband support.

Motion Computing C5 and F5 starts at $2199 and $2448 respectively.
